The Damru of Shiva

 This is an imaginary story but has a strong message.

एक बार इंद्र ने नाराज होकर किसानों से कहा कि 12 वर्षों तक बारिश नहीं होगी और फसलें नहीं उगेंगी। किसान चिंतित हुए और इंद्र से प्रार्थना की। इंद्र ने कहा, "भगवान शंकर का डमरू बजे तो वर्षा होगी," लेकिन शिव को मना लिया।

किसान भगवान शिव के पास गए तो उन्होंने कहा, "डमरू तो 12 साल बाद ही बजेगा।" यह सुनकर किसान निराश हो गए और 12 वर्षों तक खेती न करने का फैसला किया। सभी ने काम छोड़ दिया, सिवाय एक किसान के।

वह किसान निरंतर खेत जोतता, बीज बोता और अपने काम में लगा रहा। गाँव वाले उसका मज़ाक उड़ाते और पूछते, "बारिश न होने पर तुम मेहनत क्यों कर रहे हो?" किसान ने जवाब दिया, "मैं अभ्यास कर रहा हूँ ताकि 12 साल बाद कठिनाई न हो।"

किसान ने कहा, "अगर मैं 12 साल कुछ नहीं करूंगा तो खेती करना भूल जाऊंगा और मेरे शरीर की श्रम करने की आदत छूट जाएगी। इसलिए मैं खेत में काम करता हूँ ताकि जब बारिश हो तो मुझे कोई दिक्कत न हो।"

इस चर्चा को माता पार्वती कौतूहल से सुन रही थीं। उन्होंने भोलेनाथ से कहा, "प्रभु, आप भी 12 वर्षों बाद डमरू बजाना भूल सकते हैं।" यह सुनकर भगवान शिव चिंतित हो गए और डमरू उठाकर बजाने का प्रयास किया।

जैसे ही भगवान शिव ने डमरू बजाया, बारिश होने लगी। जिसने निरंतर खेत में मेहनत की थी, उसके खेतों में फसल लहलहाने लगी। बाकी किसान केवल पश्चात्ताप कर सकते थे।

इस कहानी से सिखने को मिलता है कि डमरू कभी भी बज सकता है। इसलिए नकारात्मक बातों पर ध्यान देने की बजाय हमें अपने कौशल को निखारते रहना चाहिए।

हमेशा अपनी अभिरुचि और कार्य का अभ्यास करते रहें।

Once Indra angrily told the farmers that there would be no rain for 12 years and crops would not grow. The farmers got worried and prayed to Indra. Indra said, "It will rain if Bhagwan Shankar's Damru is played," . 

When the farmers went to Lord Shiva, he said, "The Damru will be played only after 12 years." Hearing this, the farmers got disappointed and decided not to farm for 12 years. 

Everyone stopped working, except one farmer. The farmer continued to plough the field, sow seeds and do his work. The villagers would mock him and ask, "Why are you working hard when there is no rain?" The farmer replied, "I am practicing so that there will be no difficulty after 12 years." The farmer said, "If I do nothing for 12 years, I will forget farming and my body will lose the habit of doing physical labour. That is why I work in the field so that I do not face any problem when it rains."

Maa Parvati was listening to this discussion with curiosity. She said to Bholenath, "Prabhu, you too may forget to play the Damru after 12 years." Hearing this, Bhagwan Shiva became worried and picked up the Damru and tried to play it.

As soon as Bhagwan Shiva played the Damru, it started raining. The one who had worked hard in the field continuously, his fields started getting crops. The rest of the farmers could only repent.

We learn from this story that the Damru can be played at any time. Therefore, instead of focusing on negative things, we should keep improving our skills.
