तेनाली रमन और दो चोर Tenali Raman and two thieves

एक गर्मी की रात, जब तेनालीराम और उसकी पत्नी सोने वाले थे, तभी उन्हें बाहर से पत्तों की खड़खड़ाहट की आवाज़ सुनाई दी। उस समय हल्की सी भी हवा नहीं चल रही थी, इसलिए उसने अनुमान लगाया कि झाड़ियों में कुछ चोर छिपे होंगे। वह समझ गया कि वे रात में उसके घर में डकैती डालने की योजना बना रहे होंगे।

 उसने एक योजना सोची और जोर से अपनी पत्नी से कहा, “मेरी प्रिय, मैंने सुना है कि हमारे पड़ोस में कुछ कुख्यात चोर खुलेआम घूम रहे हैं। तो चलो हमारे पास जो भी आभूषण और पैसे हैं, उन्हें कुएं में छिपा दें।”

 थोड़ी देर बाद तेनालीराम और उसकी पत्नी एक बड़ा ट्रंक लेकर घर से बाहर आये और उसे कुएं में गिरा दिया। फिर वे घर के अंदर वापस चले गये और सोने का नाटक करने लगे।

 चोरों ने कुछ देर तक इंतजार किया और फिर कुएं से पानी निकालना शुरू कर दिया। उन्हें कुआँ खाली करने और खजाना पाने की आशा थी। चोर पूरी रात पानी निकालते रहे। भोर होने पर, वे ट्रंक को बाहर निकालने में कामयाब रहे, और जब उन्होंने इसे खोला, तो वे इसमें केवल कुछ बड़े पत्थरों को देखकर बेहद हैरान और निराश हुए। वे समझ गए कि यह तेनालीराम की उन्हें मात देने की योजना थी। तभी तेनालीराम अपने घर से बाहर आया और बोला, “मेरे पौधों को पानी देने के लिए धन्यवाद दोस्तों। मुझे तुम्हें तुम्हारे श्रम का भुगतान करना ही होगा।”

 यह सुनकर चोर क्षमा के लिए तेनाली के चरणों में गिर पड़े। तेनाली ने उन्हें तब जाने दिया जब उन्होंने वादा किया कि वे फिर कभी चोरी या डकैती नहीं करेंगे।

 सीख- विकट परिस्थितियों में शांत रहना और अपनी बुद्धि का उपयोग करना आपको उनसे बाहर निकलने में मदद कर सकता है।

One summer night, when Tenaliram and his wife were about to sleep, when he heard the sound of rustling of leaves coming from outside. There was not even the slightest breeze blowing at that time, so he presumed that there were some thieves hiding in the bushes. He understood that they must be planning to rob his house in the night.                    

He thought of a plan and said loudly to his wife, “My dear, I have heard that some notorious thieves are on the loose in our neighborhood. So let’s hide all the jewellery and money that we have in the well.”

A little later, Tenaliram and his wife came out of the house carrying a big trunk, and dropped it into the well. Then they went back inside the house, and pretended to go off to sleep.

The thieves waited for a while and then started drawing water from the well. They hoped to empty the well and get the treasure. The thieves kept drawing out water the entire night. Towards daybreak, they managed to pull out the trunk, and when they opened it, they were extremely shocked and disappointed to see only some big stones in it. They understood that it was Tenaliram’s plan to outsmart them. Just then, Tenaliram came out of his house and said, “Thank you friends, for watering my plants. I must pay you for your labour.”

Hearing this, the thieves fell at Tenali’s feet for forgiveness. Tenali let them go when they promised not to steal or rob anyone ever again.

Moral- Keeping cool and using your wit in dire situations can help you get out of them.
