Maa Kaalratri ( day 7 of Navratri)

शारदीय नवरात्रि के सातवें दिन मां दुर्गा के कालरात्रि स्वरूप की आराधना की जाती है. देवी का यह रूप राक्षसों, आत्माओं, भूतों और सभी नकारात्मक ऊर्जाओं को खत्म करती हैं और अपने भक्तों को सुरक्षा प्रदान करती है. मां कालरात्रि दुष्टों का विनाश करने वाली हैं. 

अंधकारमय स्थितियों का विनाश करने वाली शक्ति हैं कालरात्रि। काल से भी रक्षा करने वाली यह शक्ति है।

इस देवी के तीन नेत्र हैं। ये तीनों ही नेत्र ब्रह्मांड के समान गोल हैं। इनकी सांसों से अग्नि निकलती रहती है। ये गर्दभ की सवारी करती हैं। ऊपर उठे हुए दाहिने हाथ की वर मुद्रा भक्तों को वर देती है। दाहिनी ही तरफ का नीचे वाला हाथ अभय मुद्रा में है। यानी भक्तों हमेशा निडर, निर्भय रहो। 

इनका रूप भले ही भयंकर हो लेकिन ये सदैव शुभ फल देने वाली मां हैं। इसीलिए ये शुभंकरी कहलाईं अर्थात् इनसे भक्तों को किसी भी प्रकार से भयभीत या आतंकित होने की कतई आवश्यकता नहीं। उनके साक्षात्कार से भक्त पुण्य का भागी बनता है। 

‘जब दैत्य शुंभ-निशुंभ और रक्तबीज ने तीनों लोकों में हाहाकार मचा रखा था, तब इससे चिंतित होकर सभी देवता शिवजी के पास गए और उनसे रक्षा की प्रार्थना करने लगे। भगवान शिव ने माता पार्वती से राक्षसों का वध कर अपने भक्तों की रक्षा करने को कहा। 

शिवजी की बात मानकर माता पार्वती ने दुर्गा का रूप धारण किया और शुंभ-निशुंभ का वध कर दिया। जब मां दुर्गा ने दैत्य रक्तबीज को मौत के घाट उतारा, तो उसके शरीर से निकले रक्त से लाखों रक्तबीज दैत्य उत्पन्न हो गए। 

इसे देख दुर्गा ने अपने तेज से कालरात्रि को उत्पन्न किया। इसके बाद जब मां दुर्गा ने दैत्य रक्तबीज का वध किया और उसके शरीर से निकलने वाले रक्त को मां कालरात्रि ने जमीन पर गिरने से पहले ही अपने मुख में भर लिया। इस तरह मां दुर्गा ने सबका गला काटते हुए रक्तबीज का वध कर दिया।

 On the seventh day of Shardiya Navratri, the Kalratri form of Maa Durga is worshipped. This form of the Goddess eliminates demons, spirits, ghosts and all negative energies and provides protection to her devotees. Mother Kaalratri is the destroyer of the wicked.

 Kaalratri is the power that destroys dark situations. This is the power that protects even from death.

 This goddess has three eyes. All three eyes are as round as the universe. Fire keeps coming out from their breath. She rides the womb. The Vara Mudra of the raised right hand grants boons to the devotees. The lower hand on the right side is in Abhaya Mudra. That means, devotees, always remain fearless.

 Her appearance may be fierce but she is always a mother who gives auspicious results. That is why they are called Shubhankari, that is, there is no need for the devotees to be afraid or terrorized by them in any way. By meeting him the devotee becomes a partaker of virtue.

 'When the demons Shumbha-Nishumbha and Raktabeej created havoc in the three worlds, then all the gods, worried about this, went to Lord Shiva and started praying to him for protection. Lord Shiva asked Mother Parvati to protect his devotees by killing the demons.

 Obeying Lord Shiva, Mother Parvati took the form of Durga and killed Shumbha-Nishumbha. When Mother Durga killed the demon Raktabeej, lakhs of Raktabeej demons were born from the blood that came out of his body.

 Seeing this, Durga created Kaalratri with her might. After this, when Mother Durga killed the demon Raktabeej and the blood coming out of his body, Mother Kalratri filled her mouth before it fell on the ground. In this way Mother Durga killed Raktabeej by slitting everyone's throat.
