1. पीएम होते लिया कार लोन

हां, शास्त्री जी पीएम बन चुके थे। वह साल 1964 था। घरवालों ने कार खरीदने की सोची। वीएस वेंकटरमन पीएम के सहायक थे। उनसे पूछने पर शास्त्री जी को पता चला कि नई फिएट कार 12,000 रुपये की है। परिवार के पास तब बैंक में केवल 7,000 रुपये थे। 5000 रुपये की और जरूरत थी। पीएम लाल बहादुर शास्त्री ने बैंक में 5,000 रुपये लोन के लिए आवेदन किया। उसी दिन उन्हें लोन मिल गया। उनकी मौत के समय लोन की यह धनराशि बैंक को पूरी चुकाई नहीं जा सकी थी। बाद में ललिता शास्त्री ने पेंशन के पैसे से उसे अदा किया।

2. पैसे बचे तो पेंशन घटवा दी

आजादी के आंदोलन के समय जब वह जेल में थे, शास्त्री के परिवार को 50 रुपये पेंशन मिलती थी। उनकी पत्नी ने उन्हें बताया कि उन्होंने पेंशन से 10 रुपये बचा लिए हैं। शास्त्री जी ने पीपुल्स सोसायटी से कहा कि उनकी पेंशन घटा दी जाए और वह 10 रुपये किसी जरूरतमंद को दिया जाए। उनका कहना था कि जब 40 रुपये में परिवार का गुजारा हो जा रहा है तो 50 रुपये क्यों मिले।

3. लाठीचार्ज की जगह पानी

हां, लाल बहादुर शास्त्री तब मंत्री हुआ करते थे। बताते हैं तब यूपी में पुलिसवालों के लाठी चार्ज करने की जगह पहली बार शास्त्री ने भीड़ को तितर-बितर करने के लिए पानी की बौछार करने के आदेश दिए थे।

4. बेटे का प्रमोशन रुकवा दिया

आजकल शहर लेवल के नेता भी कार में बड़ा बोर्ड लगाकर चलते हैं। गांव का प्रधान खुद को विधायक या सांसद समझता है। लेकिन शास्त्री जी सबसे अलग थे। उन्होंने बेटे के कॉलेज एडमिशन के कागजों में खुद को गवर्मेंट सर्वेंट लिखा था। एक डिपार्टमेंट में उनके बेटे को अचानक प्रमोशन मिल गया तो शास्त्री जी सख्त हो गए। फौरन आदेश दिया कि बेवजह प्रमोशन क्यों दिया, वापस न लिया तो कर्रवाई होगी।

 1. Took car loan while being PM

 Yes, Shastri ji had become PM. That year was 1964. The family members thought of buying a car. VS Venkataraman was the assistant to the PM. On asking him, Shastri ji came to know that the new Fiat car cost Rs 12,000. The family then had only Rs 7,000 in the bank. Another Rs 5000 was needed. PM Lal Bahadur Shastri applied for a loan of Rs 5,000 in the bank. He got the loan the same day. At the time of his death this loan amount could not be fully repaid to the bank. Later Lalita Shastri paid it from her pension money.

 During the independence movement, when he was in jail, Shastri's family used to get a pension of Rs 50. His wife told him that she had saved Rs 10 from her pension. Shastri ji told the People's Society that his pension should be reduced and that Rs 10 should be given to some needy person. He said that when the family is living on Rs 40, then why did they get Rs 50?

 3. Water instead of lathicharge

 Yes, Lal Bahadur Shastri used to be a minister then. It is said that for the first time in UP, instead of lathi charge by the policemen, Shastri had ordered water cannon to disperse the crowd.

 4. Son's promotion stopped
