Neera Arya, who is more popularly known as the first woman spy in the Indian National Army, was a soldier in the Rani of Jhansi regiment.
When Neera Arya was born, Britishers were ruling in India, and from a young age, her acts proved her love for the nation because, during her childhood, she participated in many freedom movements.
Neera Arya's father soon found a suitable match for his daughter, and she got married to an investigation officer, Shrikant Jairanjan Das, in British India.
Soon After marriage, Neera Arya and her husband's professions became a point of conflict between them. Since her husband was working for the British government, he was a loyal British servant, whereas Neera wanted independence for her country from the British.
Because of her love for the nation, Neera ended up joining the Jhansi Regiment under Azad Hind Fauj after her marriage.
When Neera's husband got to know about Subhash Chandra Bose INA Army and Neera's involvement in this, he tried to get secrets of Subhash Chandra Bose because Shrikant Jairanjan Das was ordered to spy on Netaji and assassinate him.
On other hand, Neera was promised to be a true nationalist and save Azad Hind Fauj and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at any cost.
One day when her husband attempted to assassinate Subhash Chandra Bose, she killed her husband Shrikant Jairanjan Das by stabbing him and saving Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
INA’s First Woman Spy
For killing a British Government servant, she was sentenced to life imprisonment. As per reports, Neera was tortured every single day and offered bribes to divulge information about the leaders of the INC, especially Subhash Chandra Bose; if she would do that, she would be given bail. But her patriotism for the nation did not end with this tough time.
Neera fought for the country, and her breasts were chopped off because she refused to give information about Subhas Chandra Bose’s whereabouts.
Known for being the first lady spy of the INA, Neera Arya was released from jail after Independence. She spent the rest of her life in Hyderabad, where she eventually passed away in 1998.

जब नीरा आर्य का जन्म हुआ, तब भारत में अंग्रेजों का शासन था और छोटी उम्र से ही उनके कार्यों ने राष्ट्र के प्रति उनके प्रेम को साबित कर दिया, क्योंकि बचपन में उन्होंने कई स्वतंत्रता आंदोलनों में भाग लिया था।
नीरा आर्य के पिता को जल्द ही अपनी बेटी के लिए एक उपयुक्त रिश्ता मिल गया और उनकी शादी ब्रिटिश भारत में एक जांच अधिकारी श्रीकांत जयरंजन दास से हो गई।
शादी के तुरंत बाद, नीरा आर्य और उनके पति का पेशा उनके बीच संघर्ष का मुद्दा बन गया। चूंकि उनके पति ब्रिटिश सरकार के लिए काम करते थे, इसलिए वह एक वफादार ब्रिटिश नौकर थे, जबकि नीरा अपने देश के लिए अंग्रेजों से आजादी चाहती थीं।
राष्ट्र के प्रति अपने प्रेम के कारण, नीरा अपनी शादी के बाद आज़ाद हिंद फ़ौज के तहत झाँसी रेजिमेंट में शामिल हो गईं।
जब नीरा के पति को सुभाष चंद्र बोस आईएनए सेना और इसमें नीरा की भागीदारी के बारे में पता चला, तो उन्होंने सुभाष चंद्र बोस के रहस्यों को जानने की कोशिश की क्योंकि श्रीकांत जयरंजन दास को नेताजी की जासूसी करने और उनकी हत्या करने का आदेश दिया गया था।
दूसरी ओर, नीरा से सच्चा राष्ट्रवादी बनने और किसी भी कीमत पर आजाद हिंद फौज और नेताजी सुभाष चंद्र बोस को बचाने का वादा किया गया था।
एक दिन जब उनके पति ने सुभाष चंद्र बोस की हत्या करने का प्रयास किया तो उन्होंने अपने पति श्रीकांत जयरंजन दास की चाकू मारकर हत्या कर दी और नेताजी सुभाष चंद्र बोस को बचाया।
INA की पहली महिला जासूस
एक ब्रिटिश सरकारी कर्मचारी की हत्या के लिए उन्हें आजीवन कारावास की सजा सुनाई गई। रिपोर्टों के अनुसार, नीरा को हर दिन प्रताड़ित किया जाता था और कांग्रेस के नेताओं, विशेषकर सुभाष चंद्र बोस के बारे में जानकारी देने के लिए रिश्वत की पेशकश की जाती थी; अगर वह ऐसा करेगी तो उसे जमानत दे दी जायेगी. लेकिन देश के प्रति उनकी देशभक्ति इस कठिन समय में भी ख़त्म नहीं हुई।
नीरा ने देश के लिए लड़ाई लड़ी और उनके स्तन काट दिए गए क्योंकि उन्होंने सुभाष चंद्र बोस के ठिकाने के बारे में जानकारी देने से इनकार कर दिया था।
आईएनए की पहली महिला जासूस के रूप में जानी जाने वाली नीरा आर्य को आजादी के बाद जेल से रिहा कर दिया गया। उन्होंने अपना शेष जीवन हैदराबाद में बिताया, जहां अंततः 1998 में उनका निधन हो गया।
