YAKSHA PRASHNA  What is weightier than earth?  What is taller than the sky? What is faster than the wind?  What is more numerous than grass? 

(i) We call this earth Mother Earth–Bhumi Mata. We worship her as a mother. What can be more important? The mother who gave birth to us is more important. Our mother is verily our God.

 ii) For us humans our parents who gave us life in this world are like gods, the highest, the most important beings. This is consistent with the Upanishadic pronouncement: “May your mother and father be like gods to you.” Hence the answer is our Parents.

 iii) In an instant the mind can travel anywhere, everywhere and back again. 

iv) What grows faster than grass? Thoughts grow faster. Waves and waves of thoughts arise in our minds constantly and move away. There is no end to it. They grow and grow and continue to grow with newer and newer layers of thoughts–faster than grass. 

Summary 1. We should respect our parents. 2. We should keep our mind under control. 3. We should trim our thoughts, weeding out unnecessary worries

यक्ष प्रश्न: पृथ्वी से भी अधिक वजनदार क्या है? आसमान से भी ऊँचा क्या है? हवा से भी तेज़ क्या है? घास से अधिक असंख्य क्या है?

(i) हम इस धरती को धरती माता-भूमि माता कहते हैं। हम उन्हें मां के रूप में पूजते हैं.' इससे अधिक महत्वपूर्ण क्या हो सकता है? जिस माँ ने हमें जन्म दिया वह अधिक महत्वपूर्ण है। हमारी माँ सचमुच हमारी भगवान है।

  ii) हम इंसानों के लिए हमारे माता-पिता, जिन्होंने हमें इस दुनिया में जीवन दिया, भगवान के समान हैं, सर्वोच्च, सबसे महत्वपूर्ण प्राणी हैं। यह उपनिषदिक उद्घोषणा के अनुरूप है: "तुम्हारे माता और पिता तुम्हारे लिए भगवान के समान हों।" अतः इसका उत्तर है हमारे माता-पिता।

  iii) एक पल में मन कहीं भी, हर जगह यात्रा कर सकता है और फिर वापस आ सकता है।

iv) घास से भी अधिक तेजी से क्या बढ़ता है? विचार तेजी से बढ़ते हैं. हमारे मन में निरंतर विचारों की लहरें उठती हैं और दूर चली जाती हैं। इसका कोई अंत नहीं है. वे विचारों की नई और नई परतों के साथ बढ़ते हैं और बढ़ते रहते हैं - घास से भी तेज़ गति से।

सारांश 1. हमें अपने माता-पिता का सम्मान करना चाहिए। 2. हमें अपने मन को वश में रखना चाहिए। 3. हमें अपने विचारों में कटौती करनी चाहिए, अनावश्यक चिंताओं को दूर करना चाहिए
